Music, Song, Dance, and Steam!
ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS

Even though FolkStation is a relatively small festival, it takes a lot of effort and time to get all the details organised.  Without the help of a large number of people, the festival just would not happen, so we want to express our thanks and to acknowledge the contributions made by everyone who has helped, especially over the last year.

The following are certainly not all of those who provided their time and expertise, and often grossly undercharged us for their services just because they love the music:

  • The singers, musicians, dancers, performers, bands and the people who ran the sessions, the workshops, the bar, the entrances and did the general running around
  • The friends who carpeted the Island with posters and leaflets
  • Windmill Marketing for the media exposure, and developing our logo and other graphics
  • Tim Marshal for setting up and running the web site
  • The set up team who got all the tents and marquees erected, the banners hung up, the barriers moved and positioned, etc
  • The (very small) breakdown team who managed to get everything put down and packed away over the two days following the festival
  • Widget Productions who provided the excellent quality sound which was much appreciated by our performers
  • Havenstreet Railway for providing the venues and a wide range of other facilities
  • Lin Waterson for production of the printed programme
  • Education Stores for the small marquees and tents
  • The Baked Potato stand which provided food at all times of the day and night
  • Mark Spencer for the large marquee for Stage 2
  • Ian Watterson for MC’ing the whole weekend and for calling the Ceilidh
  • Jeanne French for the website's background song "Meet Me at the Station"
  • Chris and Frankie at The Carnival and Celebratory Arts Learning Centre who gave support and encouragement to get our school projects up and running
  • Glen Kopanny for his initiative with the Mayfield Middle school project
  • Robbie Whitehead of Longstone Films for the magnificent video he produced of the 2009 festival
  • The Buffers – our friends who have got together this year to help organise the 2010 festival - a great bunch of friends.  If you would like to join in to help, or to receive “The Coalbox” newsletter, send us an email to folkstationonline@googlemail.com.

And this year an especial thanks to Bob Huxtable who was one of the instigators of the festival but has had to withdraw from the organisation because of the pressures of his day job.
And of course our wives who put up with the stress and tantrums that go with the territory!
The 2009 festival was dedicated to Roy Middlebrook, who had been a cornerstone of folk music on the Island since the 1960’s.  Gone to that great Ceilidh in the sky.

Run in conjunction with the Isle of Wight Steam Railway. This event is organised by FolkStation Limited
