What's the Point

Ceilidh band from Moira near Derby. Mandolin main lead, guitar, bass, bodrhan.

The guys play various styles of folk music from upbeat jigs and reels to gentle waltzes. Our songs range from well known traditional folk songs to ballads written by the band.

“As individuals we have supported folk clubs and festivals for many years, and with some friends from all around the world.. We have been been both winners and runners up in the busking competition at the Caherciveen Celtic Music Festival in County Kerry. We stay at a campsite called Mannix Point (great site for musicians), which is how we came up with our name.”

The band have released 3 CDs to date.

"Everybody I spoke to about the band thought that you had done a great job with the caller getting very good comments, will be very happy to recommend you to any other Regiment requiring a similar band - all being well see you next year." (Sealed Knot)

"... thank you for giving us such a great ceilidh. the feedback we have had is that you were by far and away the best ceilidh band we have had. You encouraged everyone to dance and all including the children thoroughly enjoyed the experience. You will be definitely be hearing from us again. Cheers," John. (Doncaster Folk Festival)
